Head of School
Portia Moursy is a British trained educational professional with over a decade of experience in teaching and school leadership. She has an Honours degree in Politics from the University of Leeds and gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Canterbury Christ Church College. In addition to teaching and school management Portia is an examiner for AQA, the leading provider of GCSE and A Level qualifications in England.
Portia’s career began in 2003 when she was accepted onto the prestigious UK government ‘Fast Track Teacher’ scheme renowned for its rigorous selection process and high academic requirements. She has a proven track record for improving the outcomes and academic results in the schools that she worked with. When she left London for Antigua in 2011 Portia was a deputy headteacher at a large, multi-cultural high school just a few miles away from the 2012 olympic site in London. At just 29 this made her one of the youngest school leaders in the UK. Portia trained with the UK’s National College of School Leadership and is delighted to be transferring this valuable experience to IA.
